What is your passion?
Mine is telling stories.
I'm Matt Montalvo, an award winning Austin-based wedding photographer who's documented over 1,000 weddings since 2007. I shoot 55–70 weddings a year — enough to have seen nearly every way a wedding day can unfold, but not so many that I've stopped caring about getting yours perfect.
I'm based in Austin, TX, but I travel worldwide for destination weddings. And unlike bigger studios, I personally shoot, edit, and deliver every single wedding image myself — no outsourcing, no second-string associate showing up on your wedding day instead of me.

My shooting style is photojournalistic first — I'm chasing real, unscripted moments rather than posing you through a checklist. I mix that candid documentary approach with artistic portraits when the moment calls for it, using natural light and off-camera lighting depending on the scene. My editing style is color-accurate, sharp, and bright — the kind of photos that don't look dated in ten years, not just whatever's trendy this season.

How far in advance should I book my Austin wedding photographer? Popular wedding dates in Austin — spring and fall especially — can book out 12+ months ahead. If your date is coming up sooner, reach out anyway; availability varies year to year.
Who actually shoots and edits my wedding? I do, personally — every time. I shoot the wedding, edit every photo, design your album, and answer your emails myself. Nothing is outsourced. I usually have everything finished with one week.
What's your photography style? Photojournalistic and candid-first, with artistic portraits mixed in. Color-accurate, sharp, bright edits that are built to look timeless rather than trendy.
